Sunset

Life can be so busy with whatever it is that we have in our lives that we can so easily miss the beautiful things in life. To be able to sit at my back door of my home and watch the clouds changing shape, the colors blending in or are in contrast with other colors. Tiny little voices from the trees quietly chirping now and then. Then quietness. A gentle breeze blowing caressing the trees, the leaves rustling in the breeze. The evening light soon turns to a blanket of darkness for the night, for needed sleep for outdoor creatures and humans alike.

Rain

Caught in a thunderstorm I sat under cover and watched as the rain came down. As each drop came down it made a splash in the water that had already fallen. The thunder had already made itself be heard.
It can be so peaceful to fall asleep to rain falling softly, the pitter patter on the window as it falls. Listening to the rythem of rain as one drifts off to sleep! Sitting by a slightly open window and watching the rain, reading between moments of watching the rain. Going for a walk in the rain with a little stream running down the curbs. And listening to the rain as it softly hits the umbrella and bounces off as one walks along! Only some thoughts!

In my care

A few years ago I had 2 birds that would give me something other than me living in my place. A trust developed between us that would be so helpful not long afterwards. Trust! Living in a world where there seems to be so little trust among people. Sad. And yet here in nature I was able to have the trust of the parent birds (naturally under very watchful eyes). First to handle the eggs and then as the wee tiny little babies grew to being fully grown. What a thrill to be able to have had the opportunity to be trusted enough to care for, to see nature right in my own home. I would never have thought it would happen!

Chairs

Chairs. So what one may ask. True. So what. I have taken pictures of different types of chairs just for the fun of it. No reason really. More for the style of them sometimes. There are big ones, little ones, soft ones, hard ones, rocking chairs, easy chairs, ones that are too low, almost to the floor and ones that are too high! To find that perfect one for the home to be able to snuggle up by the fireplace, listen to the crackle of the fire or having the chair in a favorite corner in the home. By a window perhaps to watch the weather and nature. A chair to have a little sleep in at some point.  And have a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate after getting comfortable in the chair. I think I will have to at least day dream about the cozy chair and fireplace! Smile.

Fall

Fall! With each season there is something beautiful and special about it. Walking down the streets, or sitting in the yard at home one can smell the change in the air! The fall air warm yet in the early days of fall but as the days go by a light sweater or jacket is needed. Do you remember when we were younger and the leaves started turning colour! We knew fall was coming and our younger days we knew that along with the changing of the colours of fall came school! One of the after school or weekend chores may have been raking those leaves that gave us all that shade in the summer heat. Smile! Now as we are older that fall smell is still in the air. The gold and reds appearing here and there as the times goes on. Finally there is a carpet of leaves  under the trees. Some of the leaves took flight in the breeze landing in the curbs and lay there. I love the walks, and still do in the fall, with the leaves piled here and there. Being able to walk through those dried leaves that were once gave so much shade, listening to the crunch of dried leaves with each step. Or making a pile of the dried leaves in the yard as they are being raked. The trees preparing for the winter months ahead. So many memories and I am sure more that can be shared at a later date! Smile!

Home or House

Home! What is it exactly that makes a house a home and not just a house. A house is just made of wood, stone, bricks or a combination of building materials. Growing up there are memories of coming home from school to the smell of Mom making Christmas goodies like cookies, cakes, squares and pies. Or working on homework assignments during the school year and the evening meal being prepared with the smell drifting to where we were doing our homework. Memories of Dad working in his office, making funny little jokes. Some of our childhood memories we may take along with us as we make our house a home. A home is what we make of the place we live in. The love, the concern, memories. Not just the material possessions that we own.

Home

Home. Where is home. Home comes in many places, sizes and shapes to fit the needs and lifestyles we each have. Depending on the individual. Home could be where you hang hat weather it is a few months, a few years or a lifetime in one place. Home is what one makes it where ever it is. Home is happy times, difficult times, times of trials, times of sorrow, times of new life, quiet times, lonely times. Home. What is home to you.

Welcome

Welcome to my place.  Come sit awhile, put your feet up, relax and reflect.  Stay as long as you like, share a few thoughts of things of old, things that are happening now or plans that are possibilities in times ahead.
